IP refers to Ingress Protection whereas the first digit 6 and second digit 8 or 9 refers to different parameters.
This is an international standard for the ruggedness of smart devices. The digit 6 means that the device is pretty much dustproof. For instance, you don’t have to worry about solid dust particles entering your tablet while working on it in a DIY setting or outdoors.
