On July 5, the Taiwanese tech giant ASUS launched a new gaming smartphone series for its Republic of Gamers (ROG), the ROG Phone 6 series, at the world’s most prestigious gaming devices event.
The two new models that the ROG series brings for gaming enthusiasts are – the ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro. And this is not all, the pack also includes some very exciting accessories like – the ROG Delta series of gaming headsets, that help take gaming to a next level.
The ROG Cetra series of True Wireless gaming headphones was also launched at the event along with an additional pack of stylish accessories for the handsets. The southeast Asian tech giant claims that the new smartphones added to the ROG series are among the most powerful ROG Phones to date.
The other accessories for the new series of ROG from Asus include the new AeroActive Cooler 6, the purpose of which is to keep the surface temperature of the phones down, and the ROG Phone 6 Glass Screen Protector, as we understand from the name, it is for the protection of the display screens.
In a bold and flamboyant design, the high-end ROG Phone 6 series is backed by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor (latest in the chipsets) with up to 3.2 GHz CPU clock speeds. This premier-level powerhouse boosts the performance across devices while in use.
Also, up to 512 GB of storage and up to 18 GB of LPDDR5 RAM remove all hindrances related to slowing down of the devices, promising a consistent and comfortable experience for gamers. The new additions in the ROG family are lauded for their better power-efficient compared to the earlier Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.
The new 360° CPU cooling technology with a 30% larger vapor chamber and 85% larger graphite sheets is introduced in its latest GameCool 6 cooling system to reduce heat from the core, for ultimate continued performance.
The Armoury Crate is the new performance manager in the ROG Phone 6 series, using which gamers can adjust performance settings as per the choice of their games, allowing them to experience gaming in various scenarios.
A huge 6000 mAh battery capacity ideally meets the need for longer gaming sessions. The 65-watt HyperCharge adapter is also included in the pack for fast charging. The 6.78-inch Samsung AMOLED HDR10+ display is another characteristic of the new ROG series of smartphones from Asus for an excellent visual experience.
The ROG tuning technology used by the AMOLED HDR10+ display delivers a superior level 720 Hz touch-sampling rate, a superior 165 Hz refresh rate, and an impressive 23 ms ultra-low touch latency, allowing it to produce exceptional quality ultra-smooth and ultra-responsive immersive gaming visuals.
Asus has collaborated with the leading visual-processing company Pixelworks to deliver impressive color accuracy for superb visuals. To add more advanced control options, the AirTrigger 6 is upgraded.
At the event, Asus also exhibited many gaming headphones, including an AI Noise-Canceling Microphone, the new ROG Cetra True Wireless Pro dual-mode wired/wireless model featuring an ESS Quad DAC, and the ROG Cetra True Wireless for low-latency gaming audio claiming to deliver a fully immersive exceptional audio with rich gaming experience.
The AI Noise-Canceling Microphone drops over 500 million types of background noises for undisturbing and comfortable voice communication.
Moreover, the ROG Delta S Wireless — the first ROG dual-mode wireless gaming headset audio and the lightweight 270-gram ROG Delta S Core gaming headsets are also showcased at the event. All these accessories are designed to produce accurately real-life events with extreme comfort.
Unveiled with the full array of Snapdragon Elite Gaming features combined with an upgraded Qualcomm Adreno GPU, the power of Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 offers an ultimate and very exciting gaming experience.
In comparison to the Snapdragon 888 that powered the ROG Phone 5, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 along with upgraded gaming features helps the new ROG series improve by more than 50% in performance.
The GameFX audio system on ROG Phone 6 with symmetrical seven-magnet dual speakers throws stable stereo sound effects. A 3.5 mm headphone jack is included in the pack. Asus teamed with the Swedish digital audio pioneer Dirac for enhanced overall audio quality.
Backed by Snapdragon Sound technology, the ROG Phone 6 guarantees seamless and crystal clear music streaming, delivering music exactly as desired by artists. The phone uses the latest Snapdragon Sound technology while in Bluetooth mode, delivering high-quality music streaming.
Coming to its camera details, the ROG Phone 6 series has a triple-camera system presenting the Sony IMX766 50 MP wide-angle camera with HDR processing and enhanced image quality.
Some advanced feature upgrades comprise HDR10+ Video Mode and a 12 MP front camera for live video streaming and optimum quality group selfies. It is also equipped with an ultrawide 13 MP second camera and a macro camera.
The ROG Phone 6 which features up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 512 GB of storage is available in Phantom Black and Storm White. It comes fitted with Aura RGB lighting on its rear side.
On the other hand, the ROG Phone 6 Pro with 18 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 512 GB of storage is available exclusively in Storm White. ROG Phone 6 Pro is equipped with a color ROG Vision mini-display on its rear side.
