Merging a split keyboard is as simple as splitting one. All you need to do is follow the instructions given below.

  • Tap a text field on the ‘Notes’ app or any other app that requires/supports a keyboard.
  • Touch and hold the keyboard icon on the lower-right corner of the keypad.
  • Slide your finger up along the options that appear and click on ‘Merge’.

Apart from splitting and merging the keyboard, the iPad also lets you move the keyboard around to any part of the screen you wish. Here’s how.

  • Touch and hold the keyboard icon that appears at the lower-right corner of the keypad.
  • Slide your finger up along the options and select ‘Undock’.
  • Once you lightly press and hold this option, it instantly enables you to drag the keyboard up or down the screen.

You can also move a split keyboard up and down the screen by lightly pressing, holding and immediately dragging it where you wish. If you wish to move a full keyboard back to its original position at the bottom of the screen, touch and hold the same keyboard icon, slide up and press ‘Dock’. If you’d like to merge a split keyboard and move it back to the bottom of the screen, touch the keyboard icon, hold, slide up, tap ‘Dock’ and then ‘Merge’.
