Lenovo took a huge step into the future of personal computing, revealing a trio of laptops set to alter our PC experience – The ThinkPad X1 Carbon, ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 & IdeaPad Pro 5i! These aren’t simply powerful machines; they represent a paradigm change, using the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to unleash previously unimaginable levels of production, creativity, and efficiency.
These laptops have a triple-engine architecture: CPU, GPU, and the groundbreaking Neural Processing Unit (NPU), and are powered by cutting-edge Intel Core Ultra processors. This powerful combination allows for the smooth offloading of AI-intensive activities, significantly boosting performance and power management.
For the Next Wave of Business Computing
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 and X1 2-in-1 Gen 9 are significant upgrades over their predecessors due to advancements, including enhanced thermals, better power consumption management, and Computer Vision capabilities.
The keyboards include tactile marks for enhanced accessibility, while the ThinkPad X1 has a bigger 120mm TrackPad, a glass Haptic TouchPad, and a TrackPoint Quick Menu that can be customized.
Most enhancements are found in the internal hardware. The laptops include up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU and, in the case of the ThinkPad, around 64GB of LPDDR5X RAM, a 2TB SSD, and Intel Arc graphics. Both versions of ThinkPad laptops have 14-inch 120Hz panels, whereas the IdeaPad has a 16-inch screen.
Lenovo also announced the extension of its hybrid cloud offering, which the next generation of Intel Xeon Scalable Processors will power. As a vital next step in allowing a dynamic hybrid AI strategy spanning public, private, and fundamental models, it provides a new AI-ready platform with increased performance, the newest accelerators, and new Lenovo Professional Services for AI.
AI-Powered Productivity
The IdeaPad Pro 5i is the first Intel Evo Edition consumer notebook to use an Intel Core Ultra chipset. Lenovo believes this would enable faster AI-powered capabilities, including picture and text production and photo editing. There have also been reports of better performance for typically demanding operations like video editing, exporting & multitasking.
Regarding productivity, the IdeaPad Pro 5i excels with an IR FHD camera with a ToF sensor and privacy shutter, which enables Windows Hello for rapid and safe login. The 84WHr Polymer battery supports Rapid Charge Express via Thunderbolt 4 for rapid charging and quicker data transfers, and the extensible SSD slot enables even more data storage beyond the up to 1TB PCIe M.2 SSD.
This productivity powerhouse is also dedicated to environmental responsibility. The laptop’s bottom cover in the system bag has 50% recycled aluminum and 90% ocean-bound plastic.
Also, Lenovo has included a significant accessibility feature in the new ThinkPads in the form of additional tactile signals on the keyboard to assist people with visual impairments. According to the firm, it collaborated with Microsoft’s Accessibility Team to assist in setting new industry standards for keyboard design.
Designed for Hybrid Workers
The Lenovo ThinkVision 27 3D display, like the next generation of business laptops, is now available and ready to increase productivity and efficiency. The glasses-free 3D monitor now has a more intuitive and interactive version of 3D Explorer, which welcomes creators to the 3D realm and can also be used in 2D.
The Lenovo USB-C Dual Display Travel Dock is a hub built for onsite and remote customers. It allows them to complete activities and objectives more effectively and efficiently by connecting additional screens and devices.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 will likely start at $2,989, while the ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 9 is slated to start at $2,639, with the whole portfolio debuting in March 2024. The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i is out on the market, with prices beginning at $1,149.99.
