Over the past few years, Samsung has made the Galaxy S series the best in every possible way to a point where there is not much to improve. This series has the most advanced hardware and cutting-edge technologies. It is that time of the year again when Samsung unveils its latest addition to the Galaxy S series. So we now have the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series.
This time, Samsung is very heavy with AI in these phones, so let’s look at the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series and what it is all about.
Just like every year, Samsung has three smartphones for the series:
- Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
- Samsung Galaxy S24+
- Samsung Galaxy S24
Externally, the S24 and S24+ maintain the sleek design of their predecessors, with a few notable changes. Introducing new matte colors—black, gray, violet, and yellow—gives the devices a sophisticated and modern look. The decision to go matte instead of glossy adds a touch of elegance.
The squared-off design, which looks exactly like the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 series, offers a fresh aesthetic to these smartphones. The only thing is that they now have very identical or exactly the same edges as iPhones.
However, the big advantage of this is the slightly thinner bezels, which contribute to larger displays. The S24 now sports a 6.2-inch screen, while the S24+ boasts a 6.7-inch display. Both panels have an insane brightness of 2,600 nits, with the S24+ making the leap to Quad HD from 1080p.
This is all about the S24 and S24+ because they have minor design and hardware upgrades.
Let’s talk about the mighty S24 Ultra. It might look similar to its predecessor, but this smartphone has tiny tweaks everywhere. It is just a little bit thinner, and the side rails are now titanium. The best thing is that now the display is totally flat from corner to corner.
Also, the S24 Ultra is matte in all the new colors, and it looks stunning.
The S24 Ultra takes the design tweaks a step further. With a slimmer profile and titanium side rails replacing aluminum, the Ultra exudes durability and sophistication. The flat display, free from dramatic curves, reduces bezels, providing a more immersive viewing experience.
Under the hood, all three devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. This is good for both performance and efficiency. While the S24 and S24+ maintain familiar camera setups, the S24 Ultra introduces a notable change.
The Ultra offers a 200-megapixel main camera but opts for a 5x telephoto lens instead of the previous 10x. This seems to be a smart move by Samsung, as not many people actually use the 10x optical. So, the 5x 50-megapixel telephoto lens is far better. It provides a more common and practical zoom range, ensuring high-quality shots even at maximum zoom.
The camera improvements are also for video recording. Now, there are features like a Dedicated ISP Block for noise reduction and Instant Slow-mo for smoother slow-motion playback.
Additionally, the Galaxy S24 Series comes with the ProVisual Engine. This comprehensive suite of AI-powered tools elevates image-capturing capabilities and provides users with creative freedom. Other cool AI features include Generative Edit.
Because the Galaxy S24 series has little room for improvement in hardware and design, Samsung focused heavily on artificial intelligence for this series.
Even the new chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, now includes a wide range of AI capabilities. For instance, the devices now have a feature called Instant Visual Search, a more advanced version of Google Lens. Users can simply tap or circle objects on the screen to perform rapid Google searches by long pressing the home button or gesture bar. Other AI features on the devices are Live Translate, Interpreter, and Chat Assist.
The Voice Recorder and Notes apps now use artificial intelligence to improve speaker labels, transcriptions, and note summarization. So, using these apps in your workflow will increase productivity.
Furthermore, the Phone app supports live transcription and translation for multilingual discussions, making communication more accessible and inclusive. Then, AI integration in the Photo app enables background blur, object erasure, and photo remastering, providing consumers with creative control over their images.
